Commercial Office Remodel Transforms an Outdated Workspace

When Dan purchased an office building for his team at Trilogy Trial Consultants, he immediately recognized two things: the existing space was not going to work, and the building had the potential to become something much better.

“Walking through the office, I immediately recognized the fact that it was not going to be a space that worked for my team,” Dan explained. “But we had a vision.”

The existing office was functional in the most basic sense, but it lacked the design, layout, and energy Dan wanted for a workplace where his team would spend much of their day. Several areas needed to be completely reconsidered, and creating the new office would require much more than cosmetic improvements.

Premiere Builders was brought in to help turn that vision into a completed commercial office remodel.

The transformation included demolition, new flooring, cabinetry, countertops, lighting, updated workspaces, a breakroom, conference areas, private offices, and extensive finish work. Just as importantly, the project required planning, permitting, material selection, and coordination across the entire renovation.

The finished office is almost unrecognizable compared with the space Dan initially purchased.

An Office Renovation Designed Around the People Using It

Dan’s objective was not simply to make an older building look newer.

The office would become the headquarters for his team, meaning the design needed to support how people actually worked throughout the day.

“What was there was boring. It was not inspiring,” Dan said.

The original interior featured dated finishes and spaces that were not configured around the company’s needs. Before construction could begin, the team needed to determine how the building could be reorganized into a more useful workplace.

That meant considering private offices, collaborative areas, meeting spaces, employee amenities, storage, lighting, circulation through the building, and the overall atmosphere of the office.

The goal was to create something both functional and enjoyable.

“It was very important to have a workplace which we spend a lot of time at be beautiful to look at and also functional,” Dan explained.

Planning the Commercial Office Remodel

A commercial remodeling project involves more than selecting flooring and paint colors.

Dan’s project required a defined scope of work along with plans, permits, demolition, construction, materials, and multiple project milestones.

After researching contractors online, Dan connected with Premiere Builders and began discussing what his team wanted to accomplish.

Premiere Builders worked through the existing building, the proposed changes, expected scope of work, and anticipated turnaround time before construction moved forward.

Communication was particularly important during this stage.

Dan recalled being able to communicate directly throughout the process and receive guidance on what would be required to move the project from concept into construction.

That planning ultimately created a roadmap for the entire office renovation.

“Permits, plans, demo, and every milestone that was laid out in writing is how Premiere was able to deliver,” Dan said.

From an Existing Interior to a Completely New Commercial Space

The before-and-after difference illustrates the extent of the work.

Prior to renovation, portions of the building featured darker flooring, beige walls, conventional trim, and spaces that had been configured for previous uses. During construction, rooms were stripped back as the new office began taking shape.

The completed interior takes the building in a dramatically different direction.

Large-format light-colored tile runs throughout much of the remodeled office, reflecting light and helping create a brighter environment. White walls and cabinetry establish a clean foundation, while individual rooms introduce different colors, materials, furniture, and architectural details.

Recessed lighting was installed extensively throughout the remodeled spaces, further contributing to the bright appearance.

Instead of every room looking identical, the office maintains an overall design language while allowing different spaces to serve different purposes.

A Modern Breakroom Built Into the New Office

One of the most significant additions is the employee breakroom.

The finished area includes a full-size stainless-steel refrigerator, lower cabinetry, countertop workspace, open shelving, a microwave, sink, and dining area.

A blue accent wall and backsplash introduce color into an otherwise light interior, while the natural-toned cabinetry and floating shelves provide contrast.

Rather than treating the breakroom as an afterthought, it became a deliberate part of the office.

Employees have a dedicated area where they can step away from their desks, eat, make coffee, or have informal conversations.

The adjacent dining area includes a round table and seating while maintaining the same bright flooring and lighting used throughout the surrounding office.

This creates separation from the primary work areas without making the breakroom feel disconnected from the rest of the renovation.

Conference and Collaboration Spaces

The remodel also created dedicated spaces for meetings and collaboration.

One conference room features a large meeting table surrounded by seating, extensive recessed lighting, and a bright neutral interior.

A large wall-mounted mirror creates additional visual depth within the room, while a separate presentation surface provides a focal point for meetings.

The restrained design helps keep the room flexible. Rather than building a space around one particular use, the conference room can support internal meetings, client conversations, planning sessions, and collaborative work.

Dan specifically emphasized the importance of creating an office that encouraged his team to work together.

“We wanted to make it where when you show up, when you’re working and you’re collaborating, it feels good.”

That objective influenced more than the conference room. The entire renovation was approached as a workplace rather than simply a collection of offices.

Private Offices With Individual Character

While much of the main workspace uses white and neutral finishes, individual offices introduce more personality.

One private office shown in the completed project uses deep blue-gray walls paired with a warm wood desk and blue seating. The darker walls create a noticeably different atmosphere from the bright central office while still connecting visually through the flooring, trim, doors, and lighting.

Another area incorporates a vertical wood-slat accent wall behind lounge seating.

These details prevent the commercial remodel from feeling overly sterile.

The overall result is professional and modern, but different rooms can still serve different purposes and establish their own atmosphere.

That balance between consistency and variety helps the finished office feel intentionally designed rather than simply renovated.

Commercial Flooring, Cabinetry and Material Selection

Material selection played an important role throughout the project.

Premiere Builders helped Dan understand available options for countertops, cabinetry, flooring, and other finishes. At the same time, Dan’s team wanted the flexibility to consider products available through local suppliers.

Rather than limiting the project to one source, the two sides compared available materials and selected options that worked for the finished design.

Dan described the process as “really well informed and well planned.”

The finished project demonstrates how those individual material decisions work together.

Light tile flooring provides continuity through much of the building. White cabinetry gives the primary work areas a clean appearance. Wood accents introduce warmth, while blue finishes provide contrast in select rooms.

The result is cohesive without requiring every space to look exactly the same.

Building a Brighter and More Productive Workspace

Perhaps the biggest change is not any single countertop, cabinet, wall, or floor.

It is how the completed office feels as a whole.

The original building did not provide the environment Dan envisioned for his company. The remodeled office uses brighter finishes, extensive lighting, cleaner sightlines, purposeful work areas, and dedicated spaces for different activities.

“You walk through the space and your energy is up all day,” Dan said.

For a business where employees spend a significant portion of their week inside the building, that mattered.

The new layout gives the team areas to work independently, meet together, take breaks, collaborate, and host conversations within the same facility.

Dan wanted a workspace that could contribute to productivity while also being somewhere employees enjoyed spending their time.

The finished renovation was designed around both requirements.

Managing the Commercial Remodeling Process From Start to Finish

The visual transformation is only one part of a commercial renovation.

Projects of this scale also depend heavily on what happens before and during construction: defining the scope, creating plans, coordinating permits, completing demolition, selecting materials, sequencing different trades, and communicating as construction progresses.

For Dan, having those milestones established in advance helped make the renovation process more predictable.

The ability to communicate directly throughout the project was also important. Questions about materials, schedules, and construction could be addressed while the project moved forward.

That structure allowed a building that initially did not work for the team to gradually become the headquarters Dan had envisioned when purchasing it.

As he described the process, Premiere Builders was able to “capture our vision, execute the plan.”

A Complete Commercial Office Transformation

By the end of the project, the building had changed considerably from its original condition.

The completed commercial office remodel includes bright open work areas, extensive built-in cabinetry, dedicated private offices, a modern employee breakroom, conference and collaboration areas, new flooring, updated lighting, architectural accent walls, and coordinated finishes throughout the building.

But the ultimate objective was larger than creating a more attractive office.

Dan wanted an environment that supported his team.

“What we have now is a space and an environment that when you walk in, it’s breathing life into your lungs,” he said.

The new headquarters gives employees a professional place to work while also creating spaces designed around collaboration, comfort, and everyday functionality.

For Dan, the completed project matched the vision he had when he first looked beyond the outdated interior and imagined what the building could become.

“My experience working with Premiere was outstanding,” he said. “When it was all a wrap, everything was just perfect.”

For businesses considering an office renovation, tenant improvement, or larger commercial remodeling project, this transformation demonstrates how an existing building can be redesigned around the people who actually use it.

After our home was severely damaged by flooding from hurricane Helene, we were overwhelmed and unsure where to start. Thankfully, we found Shalom with Premiere Builders and he turned a nightmare into a fresh start. From the beginning, his team was professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Jonathan and his team remodeled my kitchen in a 100+ year old Craftsman bungalow in Hyde Park Tampa. It included removing a wall, building high-end custom cabinets to match the existing ones, new countertops and some amazing millwork. Attention to detail was very important and the carpenter was an artist. The kitchen is now the centerpiece of the home. Jonathan's team is professional and highly skilled. I highly recommend them.

‏Working with shimi was pure bliss! My husband and I recently bought our forever home. An 4000 sqft home in Tampa but it needed a complete remodel of 4 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms. The original home architecture and design was pretty outdated, and we wanted something more modern, and high-end. Premier builders&remodeling was recommended to us by a close friend who he built a beautiful custom home . After meeting Shimi for the first time we knew he was our guy, so we didn’t even interview other contractors. Working with Shimi and his crews was stress-free, of course, we ran into issues while building, but we know it is part of the construction. What was amazing to us is that Shimi always took responsibility and took care of problems on the spot. This has been the best experience we have had with a contractor. He was very thorough, professional and paid attention to the smallest detail. Everyone I came across was professional and worked well together as a team. I would recommend Shimi and company to anyone who cares for working with detail-oriented and reliable professionals. Thank you again!!
